8th group, 3rd national division

Katastari didn’t manage to have the finale that they had hoped for.

Last game in the league and they were defeated by Ermionida 2-3 at the stadium.  A game that was indifferent to both teams, as both the Argos and the Zakynthian teams had secured that they would still be in the same league in the coming season, 2019-2020. The truth is that Katastari wanted to close the year with a win and a good appearance. Eventually the first was not achieved (win) and the second (appearance) only by half.

Katastari was better in the first half, had possession of the ball and dominance in general of the match. Overall, in the first half, Katastari didn’t create many opportunities, but they deserved a goal, at least. Instead, at 45′ they ‘accepted’ a goal, going to the locker room with 0-1. In the second half  things did not go well, as the many mistakes in defence changed the data and Ermionida succeeded in scoring two more goals, with the scoreboard showing 0-3 by 56′. From 70′ onwards, the islanders woke up and patiently managed to transfer the ball into the area of the visiting team. Dimitris Nolis’ players managed to mitigate the oncoming heavy defeat and reduce to 2-3. But this score was not able to change the outcome, so the islanders knew their third home defeat in the championship (Ypato, Kalamata and Ermionida). It is worth mentioning that in the first game at Kranidi Katastari had a 1-3 lead.

The first good moment in the match belonged to the Katastari team, at 2′ . Kourellas executed the corner, sending the ball to the second goalpost and there Kapsaskis, under pressure from Tzieris, failed to send the ball into the nets of Gimousi. The match was tailored for Katastari, with Drakopoulos being a simple spectator in the game. A game at the centre where Katastari was dominant, but not very threatening. Ermionida tried to come into the offensive, whenever they were given the opportunity. So went the match, without winning any prizes for quality.

At 38′, Katastari lost a significant chance when Kardaris from centre sent the ball to the second goalpost. There was to be found Kapsaskis, the defender made the header, the ball will go again to Kapsaskis and will end up out. In the last 5 minutes Katastari was pushy, with its players looking to score to go to halftime with a goal in their favour. At 44′, another huge opportunity for the islanders was lost when Kardaris executed the corner into the middle of the defence of Ermionida, Mezinis will get the header with the ball reaching the second goalpost, where Pettas, up close and slightly sideways, was unable to send the ball into the net. Probably taken aback from the course of the ball as he wasn’t expecting it.

1-0 didn’t happen. A minute later, while the referee looked at his watch for the end of the first half, a foul happened, between the centre and the large area of Drakopoulos. Samaras executed it from the side, Bibisidis totally unmarked on the second post with a header will hang Drakopoulos and send the ball into the net of Katastari, despite Karvounis’ attempt to avert the goal. A goal that was a “stab” for Katastari as up until then Ermionida had not created any great phases.

In the second half, Katastari tried straight away to equalize. At 48′ they lost another great phase when Pettas enters the area will shoot powerfully, the ball reaches defence, will tackle, will then reach Kapsaskis who was found to be by chance in the balls path, however from an advantageous position, he could not score. Two minutes later Katastari again comes close to a goal, when Maroudas will cross Kapsaskis will do the header with the ball just passing the post of Gimousis.

From then on for 10 minutes, there was madness in the defence of the home team, whilst the players of Ermionida had a “party”. At 54′ it was 0-2. Huge inertness on the part of Katastaris’ defence (Sotiropoulos). The ball after a repulse from the defence of Ermionida will end up at Poutsis, at the height of the large area, undisturbed with a left shot will send the ball in the left corner of the net of Drakopoulos, who could not react. That was a big shock for the islanders. But two minutes later came the third shock when a beautiful goal was scored, which Trimbonias managed to do, making it 0-3 for Ermionida. The experienced striker, was to be found outside the Katastari area, will make a first simulation, will set foot in the area where he will make another sharp dribble, surpassing two opponents and a powerful left shot will shake Dracopoulos’ nets making it 0-3. A really beautiful goal from Trimbonias. Two goals that caught Katastari ‘in their sleep’. From 70′ onwards and in front of the spectrum of a heavy defeat the players of Katastari tried to show character.

At 77′, they reduced the score to 1-3 with Nikos Kourellas. The experienced ace will play one-two with Mezinis and with a right will send the ball to the left corner of Gimousis, who was unable to react. From 80′ onwards the game continued with heavy rain. Katastari pressed and tried to get back into the game again. but they were unable to threaten the area of Gimousis. They  managed to reduce to 2-3 at 93′. Kourellas made the cross to the second goalpost. Gimousis makes a wrong exit and Marinos with a short header makes it 2-3. That was the last goal for Katastari in this years championship and the first goal of the young striker of Katastari. Seconds later Mr Kafkas blew the whistle for the end of the game with Ermionida with 2-3.
