A press release from the Member of Parliament, Mr Dionysios Akypis:-

The commitment of the former Secretary General and current Deputy Minister of Civil Protection, Mr. N. Hardalias, for the deployment of two Petzetel (PZL-Mielec M-18 Dromader) firefighting aircraft exclusively to meet the needs of our island is being implemented.

 

In a meeting we had on January 17, 2020, I asked Mr. Hardalias for the provision of airspace exclusively for Zakynthos, which will be on constant alert to deal immediately with the risk of fire.

 

It is extremely important for the Zakynthos Fire Service to have all the air and ground means at its disposal in order to ensure the immediate intervention of the fire brigade at the time of the fire. The goal of all of us is for our island to remain green and for human lives not to be endangered.
