A request for the creation of a customs enclosure, in the port area.

The operation of a customs embankment in the port area, and more specifically at the dock area of St. Dionysios, occupied one of the previous meetings of the Port Authority of Zakynthos and more specifically one of those that took place last November, about a month after the severe earthquake that caused serious damage at the port.

This was the reason why the request for the allocation of space in the port could not be accepted by the port committee, as the pier of St. Dionysios has experienced sedimentation with cracks along its length and width.

The response of the Port Authority Administration to the Customs Office that submitted the request for allocation of the site last November is that until the final repairs and repairs of the damage caused by the earthquake there is no possibility of conceding space in the port of Zakynthos, however it will be reconsidered after the damage has been restored.

Since the 1980s, the Customs Office of Zakynthos has been left without a Customs Precinct and for this reason a request has been made for the creation of an area where up to twenty passenger cars, two caravans and two trucks which can be stowed with enough room between them in order to be able to be moved, if necessary. The area must be fenced, illuminated and monitored by cameras so as to ensure as far as possible that vehicles are not to be stolen or looted.

It is noted that nowadays the seized vehicles are located around the small office where the Service is housed, while a few months ago and before an auction was completed by the Customs department; the number of vehicles had been increased.
