According to sources attacks within the Marine Park of Zakynthos against ARCHELON volunteers have recently been reported. Apparently, the ARCHELON volunteers were doing their normal rounds. That includes making sure that the protected nesting area is operating as stated by the law!
It seems that some businesses do not agree with the law, nor the fact that the ARCHELON volunteers who operate a long side our National Marine Park should be there.
On numerous occassions the ARCHELON volunteers have been harassed, sworn at, chased and even stones have been thrown at them.
The National Marine Park of Zakynthos is there to protect the vulnerable sea species. However, it looks as though the National Marine Park should also protect those working as well before someone really gets seriously hurt.
