In a press release by the Hellenic Police Department four foreigners were arrested on accounts of theft in Lagana, Zakynthos.

On Thursday night (09-07-2019), four (4) foreigners aged between 20 and 23 years old were arrested in Zakynthos, by police officers from the Security Department of Zakynthos, for theft.

In particular, the four foreigners were directly identified by the police officers, who, according to a complaint, a few hours before the arrest, the sum of (1.000) euros was taken from a rented room within the area.

Meanwhile, another report of an Israeli national was also detained by the Police after they arrested the  23-year-old tourist, who was staying in Lagana, for violating the law on weapons, as he was found to be in possession of  a cudgel or otherwise known as a club.

At our airport arrests also have been made over the last week adding to twelve foreigners aged from 20 to 36 years of age who attempted to illegally board international flights with false documents.

In particular, during a police and passport check, two foreigners aged 33 and 32 on Sunday (07.07.2019) and a 33-year-old on Saturday (06.07.2019), who showed fake travel documents in order to board flights to the Netherlands.

All arrests have been led to the Prosecutor’s office of Zakynthos.

On a good note the Hellenic Police Department of Zakynthos has announced that they have increased their force with another 20 trainee offices more specifically, two officers will serve at the Police Station in Alykes, 5 officers within the Traffic Department, 6 at the central office of the Police Department of Zakynthos and 7 within the Security Department. Although cadets cannot work on weekends, and the Police Department has requested more than 30 cadets during the summer months,  their presence however, will help towards the increased work the department has.
