It is necessary to collect and remove the rubbish from the beaches, to help the sea turtle, Caretta-caretta, lay her eggs and the successful hatching of them.
The management authority of the National Marine Park of Zakynthos, in collaboration with ‘ARCHELON’, WWF Hellas and the Environmental School of the Ionian University, is organising a cleaning of nesting beaches of the local communities of Vassiliko and Kalamaki, according to the following programme:
Meeting at same time every day, at 09.30, for approximately 2 hours.
Tuesday, 21/05, Gerakas beach, meeting at lookout post at Gerakas,
Wednesday, 22/05, Dafni beach, meeting at Dafni lookout post,
Thursday, 23/05, Vrontonero beach, meeting at Crystal lookout post,
Friday, 24/05, Crystal to Louro beach, meeting at Crystal lookout post,
Saturday, 25/05, Louro to Zante-beach beach, meeting at Louro lookout post,
Monday, 27/05, Marathonisi, meeting at the small harbour at Agios Sostis,
Tuesday, 28/05, Sekania beach, meeting at the Sekania by-pass on Dafni road.
