Until the end of the month, electronic declarations of the 800 euro allowance will be made only by companies closed following a government order. These companies will also declare their staff in order to make their own declaration after April 1st. This will be in order to receive the extraordinary benefit, but also for the businesses to receive those benefits and a 40% reduction in rent. There are also a number of tax exemptions for these businesses.
For businesses that are affected but have not been closed under a government mandate, they can suspend their payments of their staff and in turn can benefit from state benefits. This is referring only to businesses whose main activity is provided by the state.
The 800 euro allowance will be given to natural persons and not legal entities. It is estimated that all workers will receive an unemployment benefit for another two months. We also have suspended payments for employees whose business has been affected. All affected freelancers and self-employed who are on the relevant list provided by the Ministry, can suspend payments until 31st August. This list is constantly expanding. Also, those who pay their dues on time will have a 25% reduction.
An announcement from the Treasury is expected, possibly involving a two-month extension of payment of cheques.
