Christmas lights and a great atmosphere in Zakynthos town

The Regional Offices have already had their Natural Christmas trees “turning on the lights” event.  The Volunteer Group of Zakynthos, after many days of hard work decorating the garden area in front of the building finally celebrated within a great festive atmosphere.

Zakynthians on the day, took advantage of the good weather and joined in the festivities.

The Philharmonic band started off the event playing traditional Christmas songs.

The Governor of the Ionian Islands Mrs Rothi Kratsa was present along with other officials. The MP of Zakynthos Mr Dionysios Aktypis making his presence and congratulating the Volunteers for their efforts. Mr George Stasinopoulos, the Zakynthian Regional Director also gave a speech and council members Mr Dimirtris Koutsogiannis, Mr Angelo Sevastiadis and Mr George Armenis were also present at the event.

Those who stood out were the Volunteers. From the offering of mulled wine and traditional Greek Christmas delights.

The English choir the “Winter Warblers” made an exceptional appearance dressed in vintage style singing typical English Christmas carols. The crowd calling out Bravo and clapping to their efforts. Many had turned up just to listen to them.

The event was a success with people of all ages enjoying what the Volunteers had to offer, even the little ones had smiles on their faces when balloons were handed out by volunteers.
