Christmas is about coming together and showing one and other that if we all come together with love all can be achieved.
In the village of Agala, Zakynthos the women’s association thought of an idea. The idea was for the members of the association to knit a Christmas tree.
The idea was discussed during summer between the members. Then after they all decided it would be a great idea the started working on their idea in early September.
Young and old joined in on the operation, that was to make the most beautiful tree. Each lady and child knitted their own piece. It took around 150 different colours of knitting wool and 382 pieces to make the tree. To add to the decorations around 30 knitted baubles were made.
The men in the village also had the task of constructing the Christmas tree frame so as the end result would be what you see today.

Even the star on top of the tree was knitted. The result? Definitely one of the most impressive Christmas trees on our Island.
