Coronavirus:- Decisions in regards to easing lockdown measures.

Critical decisions are being made today by experts on what will follow over the next few days  until Christmas.

The final decisions regarding the lifting of the lockdown and the measures against the coronavirus are expected to be taken today by the experts of the committee of the Ministry of Health so that they can then make their suggestions to the prime minister.

The majority of the scientists of the committee no longer seem to agree with the hasty opening of the country due to Christmas, since the cases, the intubations and the deaths have not been limited despite the lockdown. Something that they attribute to the relaxation of the restrictive measures, since the traffic on the roads remains increased despite the restrictions.

However, both the government and the Maximos Palace, after relevant discussions with Professor Sotiris Tsiodras, are oriented to open as few activities as possible in the coming weeks, since it has become clear that the National Health system remains under pressure and is sure that it cannot stand any more strong wave of the pandemic.

After all, intubations and deaths do not show a significant decline and remain high, which leads scientists to be still extremely cautious.

Schools.

Sources of the national newspaper ethnos.gr report that most scientists are now convinced that schools should not be opened now. This is because they estimate that the traffic caused due to parents will increase even more, the light lockdown that the country has entered.

They even note in their discussions – well-informed people describing to ethnos.gr – that the return of students to their desks will not be profitable in this phase of the epidemic, as in any case there are a few days left until the children’s Christmas holidays.

However, as Kyriakos Mitsotakis has already stated, the government does not intend to follow any other path, especially regarding schools, that the scientists will show.

Shopping and hair salons.

Based on the assessments so far by government officials and members of the committee at ethnos.gr, shops that sell seasonal items, like those for Christmas and hair salons will open first. In fact, it is not excluded that hairdressers will be able to open a little earlier since their customers will have to go by appointment and distance restrictions will apply.

The opinion of experts but especially of Professor Sotiris Tsiodras is that hairdressers are a key link in improving the psychology of citizens, who in recent months have been  extremely stressed due to the second lockdown.

It remains unknown how and on what date small shops will open as even today the way the project “click away” is still finding difficulties on how it will operate.  Based on information, this method seems to be completely removed from the table, as not all stores can respond to a pre-purchase system via internet or telephone.
