Coronavirus:- Greece updates.

Coronavirus: 136 deaths in Greece – 17 new cases – 2,534 in total.

The information from the Ministry of Health about the course of the virus in our country, from the representative of the Ministry of Health, Sotiris Tsiodras.

Two more people have died in our country in the last 24 hours, due to the COVID-19, according to the Ministry of Health.

The death toll in our country now stands at 136, of whom 36 were women and the rest were men.

The new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Greece, Monday (27/04) are 17, bringing the total number to 2,534. Of these, 580 are considered to be related to travel from abroad and 1,228 are related to an already known case.

Among the people hospitalized, 43 are intubated. Their average age is 67 years. 11 are women and the rest are men.

At the same time, 65 patients have left the ICU.

New symptoms,

The infectious disease specialist, Sotiris Tsiodras, referred to a series of new symptoms related to the coronavirus, during the briefing on the course of Covid-19 in our country.

Specifically, referring to the symptoms, the professor said that they include: colds, chills, myalgias, headaches, loss of sense of smell. These symptoms may appear iwithin 3-7 days.

Gradually and with conditions to opening schools.

Regarding the reopening of schools,  Mr. Tsiodras said that the reopening of the educational institutions will be done gradually, taking into account all the planned measures.

Mandatory use of a mask.
The Committee of Experts of the Ministry of Health decided on the mandatory use of a mask indoors against the spread of coronavirus.

According to Mr. Tsiodras, the committee of experts voted overwhelmingly on the mandatory use of a mask after the removal of the measures, on May 4 in public places, eg in grocery stores, hospitals, clinics, barbershops and generally all busy indoor areas. In fact, it will apply to both customers and employees.

Mr Tsiodras, however, clarified that the use of the mask should not create the illusion of protection against the virus.

In this context, he called on citizens to continue to follow the rules of personal hygiene, such as frequent and regular hand washing and the use of antiseptics.

“It is important to understand that what follows is not a return to normalcy. It is a difficult stage and we continue to be on the lookout. It is the common responsibility of all of us, we will continue to monitor the course of the virus “, said Mr. Tsiodras and noted:” We do not want to damage the return of partially restored to normal. We should still adhere religously to measures. Any relaxation could be disastrous. “
