The Ionian Islands Region continues to regularly inform citizens by gathering information from Hellenic Health Association, the Greek Police, the Coast Guard, the Fire Service, and the Services of the Regional Units of the Ionian Islands.
The daily information program from the Ministry of Health and the General Secretariat for Civil Protection meets the need for information throughout the country and is the only source of official information.
We ask all to systematically follow the established official information provided at 6pm by the Professor of Infectious Diseases Sotiris Tsiodras and the Deputy Minister of Civil Protection Nikos Hardalias.
We remind you that:
- Proper information and prevention are our “weapons” in dealing with “fakenews”

INFORMATION FROM EODY (Health Association)
FOR THE EVOLUTION OF CORONAVIRUS IN THE REGION OF IONIAN ISLANDS
According to the information from EODY (April 21, 2020), the findings from the epidemiological surveillance of the disease by the new coronavirus (COVID-19) remain at a total of 5, and the recorded cases in the Ionian Islands Region are as follows:
- REGIONAL UNIT OF CORFU: 2 cases where one continues the treatment at the University General Hospital of Ioannina and the other was discharged and is at home.
- REGIONAL UNIT OF LEFKADA: 1 case which was discharged from the University General Hospital of Patras and is at home
- REGIONAL UNIT OF KEFALONIA: 1 case that is under house quarantine & ITHACA: 0 cases
- REGIONAL UNIT OF ZAKYNTHOS: 1 case under house quarantine
They are 4 men and 2 women
Average Age: 65 years
NEGATIVE
* The samples sent in the last 24 hours to the Pasteur Institute by the General Hospitals of the Ionian Islands Regional Units HAVE PROVED NEGATIVE.
** The results are expected from new samples taken from the Hospitals of the Regional Units of the Ionian Islands.
*** For the cases, contact has been made or is currently underway and the General Secretariat for Civil Protection and EODY have issued instructions.

According to the information from EODY, the findings from the epidemiological surveillance of the disease by the new coronavirus (COVID-19), a total of 12, are the recorded cases in the Ionian Islands Region and have the following:
- REGIONAL CORFU UNIT: 4 cases
- REGIONAL UNIT OF LEFKADA: 1 case
- REGIONAL UNIT OF KEFALONIA: 1 case & ITHACA: 0 cases
- REGIONAL UNIT OF ZAKYNTHOS: 6 cases
These are 8 men and 5 women
Ages: 58, 59, 56, 52, 67, 63, 30, 64, 74, 69, 29, 56 || Average age group: 56 years old
Deaths: 2 (of which – a man from Zakynthos and a man from Corfu)
APPLICATION OF ENVIRONMENTAL MEASURES
REGIONAL UNIT OF ZAKYNTHOS:
A) In the last five days (16-20.04.2020), during the implementation of the traffic restriction measure, 13 violations were confirmed by the POLICE DIRECTORATE for unnecessary travel and an equal number of administrative fines were imposed on 2 pedestrians and 11 on vehicle checks.
B) From the COAST GUARD OFFICE OF ZAKYNTHOS, during the whole five days (16-20.04.2020), 609 inspections were carried out in its area of jurisdiction (port and land zone that it supervises) and no administrative fines were imposed.
MANAGEMENT OF HEALTH CONTROLS
REGIONAL UNIT OF ZAKYNTHOS:
The Department of Environmental Health & Hygiene checked the five days (16-20.04.2020), inspections were carried out in 7 health stores, instructions were given, recommendations were made on a case-by-case basis and no violations were found.
BLOOD DONATIONS
REGIONAL UNIT OF ZAKYNTHOS:
From the GENERAL HOSPITAL OF ZAKYNTHOS is held from Monday to Friday
blood donation from 8.30am to 4.30pm at the facilities of the Blood Donation Department which is temporarily housed in the Ecclesiastical Centre of Gaitani.

The Regional Unit in collaboration with the Voluntary Association Agala is carrying out
Voluntary Blood Donation of its members, in the Blood Donation Department of the General Hospital of Zakynthos, which is temporarily housed in the Ecclesiastical Centre of Gaitani.
The Association of Employees of the Regional Unit invites its members to a Voluntary Blood Donation at the Blood Donation Department of the General Hospital of Zakynthos, which is temporarily housed in the Ecclesiastical Centre of Gaitani in order to meet the needs of the Blood Donation Department of the General Hospital of Zakynthos.

The Ionian Islands Region and the General Hospital of Corfu, with the Crisis Support Unit of the Psychiatric Clinic, provide counselling and psychological support through an open telephone helpline. Those interested can contact 2661 3 61122, 2661 3 61124 from Monday to Sunday and at 10am-1pm. and 5 p.m.-7 p.m.
