The two newly elected representatives of Zakynthos, the Member of Parliament, Mr Dionysios Actypis and the Mayor of Zakynthos, Mr Nikitas Aretakis, met in the mountains last Thursday, discussing the hottest issues affecting the island, mainly with the management of waste.
The meeting was held at the City Hall of Elaton in Volimes, and according to sources both sides chatted within a climate was excellent for discussions and the was very constructive.
It was a decision by the MP to visit the newly elected mayor in his hometown, hence the meeting being in Volimes. The morning meeting also gave him the opportunity, after the elections to view firsthand the image of Zakynthos in terms of cleanliness and waste collection.
According to what he said in the meeting, Mr. Dionysios Aktipis, will be planning the next meeting to be held in the capital and the problems of the island will be discussed along with the Regional Governor Rodi Kratsa Tsagaropoulou and the Minister of Environment and Energy Kostis Hatzidakis. The meeting will be scheduled mainly concerning the waste and the construction of a management centre , so that the new Mayor Nikitas Aretakis will therefore put his concerns to the government and examine together what will be the best solution for Zakynthos.
