EU…. Green pass from tomorrow, 1st July.

Are you vaccinated, have you recovered from Covid-19 or have a negative covid test?  From tomorrow, 1st July, you will have to present a certificate to cross the European borders using the new “green pass”, the European Digital Certificate Covid-19, which will now be necessary for travel to 33 European countries.

Available in printed or digital form, this valuable certificate contains a QR Code that can be checked by travel companies (airplane, train, ship) and the police.

The certificate includes identification (name, date of birth) and mainly information related to the vaccination (vaccine type, number of doses, date of vaccination) or, in the case of a diagnostic test, date and type of test, positive or negative result).

The tool is the same in the 27 countries of the European Union and six more European countries (Andorra, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Norway, Switzerland), while the entry and exit rules vary depending on the destination.

Thus, entry into France from a European country requires either certification of a complete vaccination regimen (two weeks after the second dose or four weeks for the Johnson & Johnson vaccine) or PCR or antigen test for up to 72 hours.

This test duration is reduced to 48 hours in some countries, and a positive test (usually six months or less) may also be accepted as proof of recovery from an illness.

In countries such as France, the European Digital Certificate will allow entry to sporting and cultural events involving more than 1,000 people.

For countries where the “green pass” is not yet ready, a transitional period of six weeks (until 12 August) is foreseen, during which other documents, such as a paper vaccination certificate, may be presented at the border.
