Ferry Boat damaged, a new schedule for tonight.

This morning it seemed the ferry boat Mare Di Levante had visited the shores of Tsilivi, as you can see in our photos below. Zakynthos Informer found out from some of our members, the ferry had mechanical problems when one of the engines was not working and that passengers unfortunately has their trip slightly extended due to the bad weather conditions.  The local newspaper also reported that just over two miles from the port of Zakynthos, damage was reported to one of its engines.

Immediately, the engineer informed the bridge that one engine had to stop working, so the ship could only move with the second.
Due to the very strong winds, the captain Giorgos Giatras decided not to go with one machine to Killini.
Immediately, the ship changed its route, moving towards Alykes, so as not to be affected by the strong winds.
Passengers were informed by an announcement of the incident, which was unexpected.
The Ferry boat moved along the eastern coastline of Zakynthos at the height of Tsilivi until winds had died down slightly and so they could move safely into Zakynthos port.

Reports for the local newspaper Hmera reported the follow:-
According to our information, more than 300 people are on board, who patiently await their arrival in Zakynthos.
In communication with our captain, we had the assurance that there is no concern, and both he and the company have apologized for the unfortunate incident.

In the next hours,  the “Fior di Levante”  will reach the island of Zakynthos, in order to fully restore the transport.
