Floating Playground a possibility at Donkey beach.

Reports going around on social media that a possibility of a floating playground area in the vicinity of Tragaki, and more specifically Donkey beach, caused alarm amongst our members.

However, the upset was not just on Social Media according to local newspaper reports, it seems that the locals are too happy either.

According to sources the local community council of Tragaki has sent a document to the municipality, the port authorities, the police department and the National Marine Park of Zakynthos requesting that plans to build a floating playground at Donkey Beach, should be denied.

According to what is known, the reason for the local Council’s refusal is that there are nests of the Caretta-caretta sea turtle which have been recorded by the National Marine Park and nests have been provided protective supports around them.

The report that the playground is licensed at a very short distance from the harbour’s entrance and is a sure sign of danger is another reason for concern.
