The decision for New Year’s Eve and the churches
Gathering of up to 9 people from 2 families in houses for the Christmas – New Year and 3 Divine services with a maximum number of believers 25 in churches and 50 in metropolises, is defined by the government’s decision published in the Official Gazette for restrictions due to the lockdown for measures restriction of coronavirus spread. At the same time, infectious disease specialists are concerned about the risk of large-scale spread of the virus due to New Year’s Eve gatherings.
According to the Government Gazette published in the government newspaper, for New Year’s Eve and especially on the days 24 – 25 December 2020 and 1 January 2021, gatherings are allowed with a maximum of 9 people from 2 families.
For the churches, the services on Christmas Day ( 25/12/2020). New Year’s Day (1/1/2021) and Epiphany (6/1/2021), will operate as such. One person per 15 sqm with a maximum number of 25 people for the holy churches and a maximum number of 50 people for metropolitan churches.
For the Epiphany, the blessing of the waters in open spaces is forbidden. It is allowed only inside the holy temples.
