Greece:- Coronavirus daily report for Saturday 9th January, 2021

EODY announced on Saturday afternoon that the new cases of coronavirus in the country amount to 800. In the last 24 hours, 32 of our fellow citizens have lost their lives.

The National Organization of Public Health (EODY) announced on Saturday afternoon (9/1) that the new laboratory confirmed cases of coronavirus are 800, of which 11 were identified after checks at the country’s gates.

The total number of cases is 144293 (daily change + 0.6%), of which 52.2% are men. During the tracking it was found that 5598 (3.9%) are considered related to travel from abroad and 43583 (30.2%) are related to an already known case.

The new deaths from COVID-19 were 32, bringing the total to 5,227 deaths in the country, of which 3,087 (59.1%) were men. The median age of our deceased fellow citizens was 79 years and 95.5% had an underlying disease and / or age 70 years and over.

Also 362 people are treated by intubation. Their median age is 68 years. 250 (69.1%) of the intubated are men. 85.4% of intubated patients have an underlying disease or are aged 70 years or older.

It is noted that 954 patients have been discharged from the ICU since the beginning of the pandemic.

In the last 24 hours 11,828 molecular tests and 24,855 rapid tests were performed. The positivity rate stood at 2.18%.
