Greece:- Coronavirus new lifting of measures.

New lifting of measures from Saturday 19 June – Under 100 intubated estimated for July

Nikos Hardalias announced a new lifting of restrictive measures on Thursday afternoon in informing the Ministry of Health about the course of the coronavirus pandemic. As he said: “The epidemiological picture of our country continues to improve – as the number of new cases and our fellow citizins who are treated appears reduced. “Improving the epidemiological data, in conjunction with the ongoing vaccination program, allows us to lift additional restrictive measures and restart other activities,” he said.

In detail, from Saturday 19 June they resume their operation:

  • Operation of stores with 1 customer per 16 sq.m. (while now there is 1 customer per 25 sq.m.)
  • Opening of playgrounds outdoors
  • Trade fairs
  • Amusement Park Opening
  • Opening of massage services

The closed cinemas will open from July 1 with 50% of their capacity, with the presentation of a vaccination certificate or negative self-test and the universal mandatory use of a mask with a parallel obligation to issue an electronic ticket to facilitate possible tracking. Recommendation for installing HEPA filters.

It was also decided that those vaccinated could go to the gym without masks

In matters of the Ministry of Tourism, the Commission unanimously decided the following:

Regarding the general rules of entry into the country, to allow entry with a negative rapid test from the green countries.
Accompanied minors under 12 years of age to enter the country without the need for a test before leaving the countries in the green category. For countries in the orange and red categories, accompanied minors must enter the country without the need for a test under 6 years.

From the other third countries to enter the country according to the marking of each country in green, orange and red. For the greens to apply the existing rules. For the orange countries to allow the entry of people who are cumulatively vaccinated (with the recognized – from our country – vaccines) and have performed PCR test 72 hours before their departure.

Citizens from countries that are on the red list and for which the 7-day quarantine provision continues to apply are excluded from this provision.

Unvaccinated workers in the fields of Tourism (Hotels, Travel Agencies, Guide services, car rental services, catering, etc.) to be tested with a self-diagnostic test twice a week, at the expense of the State for the first test and at a cost of the business owner for the second.

Papaevangelou: Next month the number of intubated people is below 100

The professor of Pediatric Infectious Diseases, Vana Papaevangelou, analyzed the epidemiological data of EODY, emphasizing that the positivity index is steadily decreasing in the whole range of coronavirus detection tests.

“The spread of the virus in the community is decreasing”, he added, while the same is true with the active cases in Greece. In fact, he said that all this good image in the country is mainly due to the vaccination program that is “running”, while the possibility of intubated people falling to double digits next month is visible.

At the same time, however, he stressed that the pandemic is not over, stressing the importance of vaccination and compliance with protection measures. The number of active cases decreased by 40%. The median age of new cases remained stable at 35 years.

He also said that in some areas there is a decrease in the median age of new cases, such as Rethymno, Syros and Santorini, and in others increased number of cases at older ages, noting that special attention is needed.

Majorkinis: Reduces the pressure on the Health system

The total number of new diagnoses in the country continues to decrease, as well as the pressure on the Health system, said during the briefing on the course of the pandemic the assistant professor of Epidemiology and member of the Committee of Experts Gikas Majorkinis.

Specifically, the number of people monitored in the Intensive Care Units during the last week decreased by about 15%. The number of new admissions with the disease drops to less than 100 per day.

There were also 37% fewer diagnoses than the previous week, and the number of people ending up with the disease is reduced by 37%, to less than 20 per day.

Regarding public health intervention for screening with antigenic self-tests, to date about 30 million devices have been distributed to approximately 4.4 million citizens.
