Greece:- Coronavirus New Measures that will take place on Friday 13th November.

New measures for the coronavirus: Restriction of traffic from 21:00 throughout Greece

Announcements by Nikos Hardalias

The new measures for the coronavirus were announced a while ago by Nikos Hardalias. The Undersecretary of Civil Protection stated that new stricter measures will apply in Greece from Friday. Specifically, he stressed that from next Friday there is a traffic restriction from 21.00 to 05.00 throughout the country.

The three reasons why citizens will be able to go out are: Work, health and a short walk of the pets within walking distance of the house. Also, Mr. Hardalias referred to individual sports and as he informed these will be done in compositions of three people and with a strong recommendation to be held near the homes of athletes.

Regarding teleworking, Mr. Hardalias stressed that companies should now operate with the absolutely necessary staff.

Matina Pagoni: Doctors in Thessaloniki are in a desperate situation.

The president of EINAP, Matina Pagoni, described the situation in the hospitals of Thessaloniki as marginal.

Speaking on Issue 104.6, she said that her fellow doctors are in a desperate situation. However, she did not confirm that patients are being screened for ICUs and clarified that, in cases where there is a need, patients will be transferred to hospitals in other parts of the country.

For Attica, she assured that there is still room for endurance in the system and regular surgeries have not been stopped.

In Attica, doctors have ensured that surgeries are performed, so that no patients are at risk. “A regular surgery can be emergency,” he said characteristically.

Speaking about the general picture, she said that the number of people seriously treated with COVID-19 has an explosive increase, while at the moment the total number of treatments has exceeded 2,150.

She expressed concern that several of them would be intubated, stressing that even young people have entered the process.

“We must be careful at least until Easter “

“We have to tell the truth so that people understand the urgency of the situation,” she said, explaining that even until Easter we must be careful.

At the same time, she seemed moderately optimistic about the vaccines, but stressed that there was still a way to start the vaccination. In the first phase, the most vulnerable will be vaccinated in groups and as long as they are in the front line (hospitals, security forces, etc.).

Commenting on the appeal of the Medical Association of Thessaloniki for the help of private doctors, Ms. Pagoni was strongly opposed. As he said “doctors can not come to a hospital with different contracts, they will come with a block and leave”.

She stressed that the doctors should be there, the specific staff should stay and not come in and out. Hospitals are being strengthened, she said, by recruiting staff and announcing permanent positions.

She added that EINAP will react strongly to such an attempt to integrate private doctors into the system, although she clarified that in other, much worse conditions, it makes sense for everyone to help voluntarily.
