Coronavirus: Road race to save the islands the mini lockdown
What experts suggest for areas with a high epidemiological burden – The government’s plan
A road race to avoid mini-lockdowns on the islands with a high epidemiological load has been launched by government officials in the last 24 hours. That is why the Ministry of Civil Protection has started sending teams of police to the popular islands in order to implement the measures and avoid new mini lockdowns like in Mykonos.
The authorities and the experts are targeting Ios, Mykonos again, Paros, Tinos, Santorini and Rethymnon.
It seems that although Zakynthos has a high case of numbers over the last week we may be excluded. Decisions will be announced later this afternoon.
Crete remains in the danger zone with 281 cases yesterday, while an increased number of infections is recorded in Rhodes (71), Zakynthos (45), Chios (41), Corfu (30), Lefkada (23) and Paros ( 22). In terms of positivity, Paros emerges champion with a percentage of 5.51%, followed by Mykonos with 4.27% and Rethymno with 3.76%.
The experts of the committee of the Ministry of Health have already pointed out to the government officials, say sources of ethnos.gr, that there should be restrictions in the specific islands but today they are expected to make their final suggestions.
