In Attica, most of the new cases of coronavirus in our country are detected once again. To be precise, they have recorded 328 cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours out of a total of 698 throughout the country. In Thessaloniki, according to EODY, 56 were detected while in Achaia the new infections reach 62. In the center of Athens, 93 cases were detected.

The new laboratory-confirmed cases of the disease recorded in the last 24 hours are 698, of which 11 were identified after checks at the country’s gates. The total number of cases amounts to 172,824 (daily change + 0.4%), of which 51.9% are men. Based on the confirmed cases of the last 7 days, 58 are considered related to travel from abroad and 2,287 are related to an already known case. The median age of cases is 44 years (range 0.2 to 105 years), while the median age of death is 79 years (range 15 to 103 years).
There are 26 new deaths of patients with COVID-19, while a total of 6,152 deaths have been recorded since the outbreak began. 95.6% had underlying disease and / or age 70 years and older.
The number of patients treated by intubation is 299 (67.2% men). Their median age is 70 years. 87.3% have an underlying disease and / or age 70 years and older. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 1,224 patients have been discharged from the ICU. The new admissions of Covid-19 patients in the hospitals of the territory are 201 (daily change -18.95%). The average seven-day admission is 226 patients.
How many cases are related to the British mutation and how many to the South African one.
There are 530 cases of coronavirus mutations in our country, of which 40 relate to imported cases. According to the information of EODY, the majority of the mutations -495- concern the British mutation and 7 the South African one.
According to EODY, a total of 495 positive strains have been identified for the presence of mutation B.1.1.7 / UK lineage (Variant VOC_202012) and 7 for the presence of mutation B.1.351 / South Africa (Variant 501V2) since the start of operation of the National Network Genomic Surveillance for SARS-CoV-2 mutations to date.
