Greece:- Coronavirus update for Sunday 09 May

Coronavirus: More than 11,000 dead – 1,428 new cases, 728 intubated.

More than 11,000 people died from coronavirus in our country, while at the same time the pressure on the National Health System is still high, as the number of intubated patients remains high.

EODY announced today, Sunday, that the new laboratory confirmed cases of the disease recorded in the last 24 hours are 1,428, of which 1 was identified after checks at the country’s entry gates. The total number of cases amounts to 362,004 (daily change + 0.4%), of which 51.2% are men.

Based on the confirmed cases of the last 7 days, 51 are considered related to travel from abroad and 2,309 are related to an already known case.

The new death toll of patients with COVID-19 is 51, while since the beginning of the epidemic a total of 11,029 deaths have been recorded. 95.2% had underlying disease and / or age 70 years and older.

The number of patients treated by intubation is 728 (62.1% men). Their median age is 67 years. 83.7% have underlying disease and / or age 70 years and older. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 2,183 patients have been discharged from the ICU.

The admission of new Covid-19 patients to the hospitals of the territory is 370 (daily change -0.27%). The average seven-day import is 375
patients. The median age of cases is 44 years (range 0.2 to 106 years), while the median age of death is 78 years (range 0.2 to 106 years).

Performing a test
In the last 24 hours, 7,356 molecular tests and 15,513 rapid tests were performed. In a total of 22,869 tests, the positivity is estimated at 6.24%.

From January 1, 2020 until today, in the laboratories that perform tests for the new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) and that systematically state the total of the samples they test, a total of 4,761,301 clinical samples have been tested while from Health Units and Scales of EODY performing Rapid Ag tests have tested 3,707,257 samples. The seven-day average is 40,930 sample checks.

Self-tests: As of May 8, 2021, 3,280,544 statements of self-tests have been recorded electronically, while 82,721 people came for re-testing.

Mass Sampling of EODY: On May 8, 2021, 28 sampling actions were carried out by the Mobile Health Teams (KOMY) of EODY, in which 5,843 Rapid Ag tests were performed and 126 positive (2.16%) were found.
