Coronavirus: 1,262 cases, 50 deaths, 656 intubated

The information from EODY about the cases of coronavirus in Greece during the last 24 hours
OEODY announced on Sunday, May 16, 1,262 new cases of coronavirus, 50 deaths and 656 intubated patients. The admission of new Covid-19 patients to the hospitals of the territory is 287 (daily change -4.97%). Note that only 23,443 tests were performed (PCR: 7,761, RAPID: 15,682) due to the weekend and their positivity is at 5.38%.

The announcement of EODY in detail:

The new laboratory-confirmed cases of the disease recorded in the last 24 hours are 1,262, of which 4 were identified after checks at the country’s gates. The total number of cases amounts to 377,090 (daily change + 0.3%), of which 51.2% are men.
Based on the confirmed cases of the last 7 days, 40 are considered related to travel from abroad and 2,711 are related to an already known case. Daily evolution of the pandemic: The daily distribution of confirmed cases is as follows (the line represents the total, cumulative distribution of cases).
The new deaths of patients with COVID-19 are 50, while since the beginning of the epidemic a total of 11,415 deaths have been recorded. 95.2% had underlying disease and / or age 70 years and older.
The number of patients treated by intubation is 656 (62.5% men). Their median age is 67 years. 82.5% have an underlying disease and / or age 70 years and older. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 2,280 patients have been discharged from the ICU.
The admission of new Covid-19 patients to the hospitals of the territory is 287 (daily change -4.97%). The average seven-day admission is 323 patients. The median age of cases is 44 years (range 0.2 to 106 years), while the median age of death is 78 years (range 0.2 to 106 years).

The distribution of cases throughout the country

Attica are recorded for another 24 hours most new cases of coronavirus in Greece and on Sunday 16 May, according to the distribution of cases announced by EODY. Specifically, out of the total of 1,262 cases of coronavirus, 613 new cases are recorded in Attica, 84 were detected in Thessaloniki, while in Etoloakarnania 67 cases were found in 24 hours.
