Greece:- Digital Green Certificate: From June 1 available for the Greek residents

Following the agreement reached between the European Parliament and the Member States.

Greece seems to be ready to implement the digital green certificate from June 1st.

Greece has already passed and successfully passed the relevant tests and is ready from the first day of summer to implement the digital green certificate.

It is essentially digital proof that someone has been vaccinated against the pandemic, whether they have been diagnosed with a negative result or have finally recovered from Covid-19 disease. The purpose of the certificate is to facilitate the safe free movement of citizens within the EU during the pandemic.

What is needed for its publication.

Residents from June 1 will be able to enter the Unified Digital Platform, gov.gr and issue the green pass using either their personal passwords to Taxisnet or their AMKA. It should be mentioned that the green pass is implemented by EDYTA, IDIKA with the participation of the General Secretariat of Information Systems of Public Administration (GGPSDD).

Note that digital green certificates will be valid in all EU Member States, will contain a digitally signed QR code to protect against counterfeiting, and the European Commission will set up a portal through which all certificate signatures can be verified anywhere in the EU. The encrypted personal data contained in the certificate is not transmitted through the portal, as this is not necessary for the verification of the electronic signature. The Commission will also assist Member States in developing software that can be used by the authorities to control QR codes.

What data will it contain.

The data contained in the certificate are limited to the necessary main information, such as name, date of birth, date of issue, information about the vaccine / diagnostic / recovery and a unique identifier. Certificates will contain only a limited set of required information.

This information will not be retained by the countries the traveler is visiting. For verification purposes, only the validity and authenticity of the certificate is verified, through the verification of the issuing authority and the signature. All health data remains the responsibility of the Member State that issued the digital green certificate.

The next steps to be taken by the EU by the summer are for the Commission to set up a digital infrastructure to facilitate the verification of the authenticity of digital green certificates, while Member States will have to make the necessary changes to national registration systems health.

Three types of certification.

There are three types of digital certificates, EU Justice Commissioner Didier Raders said today in a press conference, explaining that every citizen can have a certificate of vaccination, a negative test certificate or a certificate stating that he has recovered from coronavirus.
