Greece:- Join in on the “Climate-Smart Coastal Practices” programme supported by BLUECOAST.

BLUECOAST a co- funded programme by the EU and by the National Funds of Greece and  Albania.

 

BLUECOAST involves the cooperation between Greece and Albania in the implementation of actions for the conservation of some of the most important habitats of the loggerhead sea turtle Caretta caretta in the Mediterranean, in Zakynthos island (Greece) and the Himara Municipality (Albania).

The challenge is to establish a cross-border cooperation and horizontal synergies in order to cover specific conservation needs & improve policies efficiency as well as also to establish critical conditions and pro-active methods for the long-term conservation of the species.

Over the next few weeks you can join in on the  “Climate-Smart Coastal Practices for Blue governance ”- BLUECOAST, of the Interreg IPA CBC programme“ Greece –

Albania 2014 – 2020”, with collaborating bodies:

– Management Body of the National Marine Park of Zakynthos (coordinator)

– Decentralized Administration of Peloponnese, Western Greece and the Ionian

– National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Department of Geology and

Geoenvironment, Laboratory of Physical Geography

– Albanian National Coastal Authority

– Municipality of Himara

– Ionian University

This is a FREE programme about “Climate Change and

Blue Growth “.

About the programme:-

The program examines the ways in which climate change threatens our seas and oceans and presents solutions and proposals to achieve an innovative and sustainable BlueEconomy. Good international practices are also presented and examples of proper management of marine resources and biodiversity protection.

Education is evolving. In the digital age, the tools provided by technology can make knowledge accessible to virtually every citizen on the planet. The Biopolitics International Organisation (B.I.O.) has made available a wealth of educational material and resources online through a series of e-learning courses on the environment/environmental issues. The aim is to place a uniquely rich source of information and training material at the fingertips of teachers, students and professionals around the world.

Louise is Australian born and has been a Greek citizen since 1991. She has deep cultural ties with the island, often writing about Zakynthian Traditions and Culture. She is also an active member of the Volunteer Group of Zakynthos, Giostra Di Zante and is a member of the women's choir "Rodambelos".
