The Prime Minister announced measures of 3.5 billion euros to support workers and businesses from the floor of Parliament, answering a topical question by Fofi Gennimata for the economy in the context of the “Prime Minister’s Hour”.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced a financial aid package and specifically said that we are zeroing the advance tax for businesses whose turnover in the first half is 35% lower than in 2019. For other companies it will range from 30% to 70%. The advance tax on seasonal businesses is also zero. Half of the advance payment will be paid by those professionals who are not required to submit VAT.
At the same time, the 3rd round of a refundable advance payment of 1 billion will be inaugurated, which will concern both sole proprietorships and without a cash register.
– 60% of the state subsidizes all employer contributions for August, September, October, at a cost of about 600 million euros
– Seasonal tourism businesses will not pay any employer contributions for the quarter July – September. And finally
– Extends the possibility of suspending the contract of employees throughout the range of tourism businesses
Earlier, the prime minister said that after 19 years, the projects for the creation of the country’s largest metropolitan park are finally starting at the old Hellinikon airport, an investment that will create 80,000 jobs in its overall development. However, he acknowledged that the ND had underestimated the bureaucratic entanglements and problems of Elliniko, but resolved the outstanding issues.
As for the new jobs, he pointed out that new ones cannot be created at this stage, however the state operated with reflexes and managed to prevent a sharp rise in unemployment.
