Greece:- Possible “local lockdowns” and schools opening later, depending on data.

The criticality of the situation regarding the cessation of the coronavirus was described by the professor and member of the infectious disease committee, Haralambos Gogos.

Speaking to SKAI’s main news bulletin a few hours after the new negative record of 284 cases – of which 141 in Attica – that occurred on Sunday, Mr. Gogos did not rule out the possibility of introducing measures such as those implemented locally on the islands of Poros and Lesvos.

“Local measures and horizontal measures can be raised to a level. “If there is a reason, measures such as closing shops and mandatory use of a mask everywhere can be implemented at a national level,” he said.

“The situation is critical, it exceeds the limits of worrying, it is critical worldwide, the outbreak of the phenomenon must be mobilized, we are not closed societies, a huge effort must be made,” he noted, adding: “31 of our fellow citizens are hospitalized; we are still in the 90’s that we had in the winter, but it is still summer however, a situation is forming that we will find in front of us in September. The dispersion we have at the moment should be controlled so that we have the best possible regularity for the coming winter season “.

Gogos: The ” R “indicator rings alarm bell.

However, he assured that “we have time to overcome the problem”: “The R Index is above 1, the bell is ringing in many directions, we must all listen to it before facing more serious problems that will be more difficult to control,” he warned, appealing to citizens, and especially young people, to take the necessary security measures.

The postponement of starting the school year is open for discussion.

“If it is necessary to change the start date of the school year, which has been set for September 7, we will act accordingly,” said the teacher. “September 7th is close to September 14th,” he said, noting that the commission would monitor the epidemiological data until the last minute.
