Greece:- Possible senario for kindy and primary schools to close.

The possibility of closing primary schools is also open – What Petsas-Kikilias said

The possibility of closing the primary schools was also left open by the government spokesman in order to deal with the second wave of the pandemic that is sweeping our country.

The lockdown in primary schools, as was done in junior schools and senior high , will be discussed in the infectious disease committee and suggestions are expected to be made to the government and final decisions will be made. It will also have to be decided whether only the schools of Thessaloniki or all the schools in the country will be closed in the end.

In particular, Stelios Petsas, when asked if the primary schools will be closed, told Alpha that “it is something we will see today”, adding that this solution is being considered in order to limit another source of mobility, and not because there is a problem of over-transmission. from schools “.

In relation to the removal of the lockdown, Mr Petsas also stated that the cases should decrease to the levels of September, ie to 300 to 400 and strongly emphasized faithful observance of the measures and reduction of mobility.

Kikilias: New measures in Thessaloniki.

At the same time, Health Minister Vassilis Kikilias revealed that new measures will be decided today for Thessaloniki, which will mainly concern the operation of schools.

“Depending on the epidemiological data and the compliance of the citizens and depending on the aggression of the virus, it will be decided when the lockdown will end”, commented on the duration of the quarantine measures Mr. Kikilias.

Regarding Thessaloniki, the Minister of Health stated to Alpha 98.9 that “I am very worried about what is happening. The vigil yesterday closed with 80 admissions and 20 suspicious cases. Calculate this number every day for the next 10-15 days. We have prepared an emergency plan, from cardiac surgery, vascular surgery rooms and we have another 100, when the whole of Northern Greece is under pressure and there are incidents from Thessaloniki by 70% and 30% from surrounding areas “.

Zacharaki: The number of cases in schools is very small.

For her part, the Deputy Minister of Education, Sofia Zacharaki, stated in her statements to ERT that so far there is no suggestion for the closure of Primary Education of Primary and Kindergartens. She also stressed, according to ERT, that we have a very small number of cases in 0.4 to 0.5 departments and schools across the country.

Zacharaki stressed that the government is ready for any decision suggested by the Scientific Committee: “We are under constant supervision and we take care of the observance of the measures with dedication”.

At the same time, she acknowledged that in some areas parents do not send their children to school, influenced by the general picture. Regarding the reopening of the schools, she stated that it will be designed by EODY, so that before, the children of the Junior and Senior high, will be examined and evaluated whether the schools will open after November 30.

How will the educational process not be interrupted.

The Minister of Education, Niki Kerameos, speaking on Thursday morning to SKAI, noted that the leadership of the Ministry of Education has not yet received a relevant suggestion from the experts for the closure of primary schools.

Niki Kerameos stressed that since the beginning of the coronavirus crisis, the Ministry of Education has been acting on the basis of the suggestions of experts, who, she repeated, have so far not submitted a proposal for the closure of private schools. The data, added the Minister of Education, show that there is no tendency of dispersion within schools.

Nevertheless, the Ministry of Education is ready for the “padlock” scenario in primary schools. Niki Kerameos pointed out that in this case there are two main “tools” in order not to interrupt the educational process:

Educational television, as more than 220 lessons have been videotaped from scratch and a library has been built on the voluntary offer of teachers which will be done in collaboration with ERT to broadcast educational episodes.
