Hardalias: A map of health safety and protection against coronavirus will be activated

The coronavirus health safety and protection map includes 4 levels of precautionary measures and rules for each regional unit of the country

The government is preparing to implement a framework of categorized and targeted local measures for the safe and smooth continuation of the economic and social life of our country, the map of health security and protection against coronavirus, announced the Deputy Minister of Civil Protection and Crisis Management Nikos Hardalias today’s update on the evolution of Covid-19 in the country.

As Mr. Hardalias explained, the map of health safety and protection against coronavirus includes 4 levels of preventive measures and rules for each regional unit of the country:

  • Level 1: readiness

  • Level 2: surveillance

  • Level 3: increased surveillance

  • Level 4: increased risk.

Mr. Hardalias further clarified that the determination of the level of risk in each area depends on the increasing or decreasing trend of health figures and will be updated every 15 days based on the recommendations of the epidemiological committee or more often when required by health and epidemiologists. He announced that the map will be presented on Friday.

At the same time, he informed that until today, Tuesday, October 6, the operation of 14 schools has been suspended throughout the country, while departments have been closed in 114 schools nationwide. He noted that the vast majority of schools suspended due to a confirmed case are located in areas with increased epidemiological burden.

He further noted that the cases are geographically fragmented and spatially isolated, indicating that three weeks after the start of the school year there is no dispersion within the school units, and therefore the schools are considered safe.
