It’s certainly very hot today, this weekend we are expecting at least 35 in Zakynthos. Other parts of Greece over 40.
Mini heat wave!
150 years a record heatwave!
Speaking to ERT, Nikos Michalopoulos, a professor at the University of Crete and director of the Institute for Research and Sustainable Development at the National Observatory of Athens, said that if weather forecasts were confirmed, the “map” of the country’s hot data would change
In Thissio we have the oldest station in Greece. We have data of 150 years, one and a half centuries “ago, Mr. Michalopoulos initially emphasized. He explained that to date, the highest temperatures for May had been recorded in the last ten days “and had never exceeded 37 degrees Celsius.”
As he explained, the highest temperature recorded in the first ten days “was 35.6 degrees Celsius on May 11, 2003. As you can see, if the forecasts are verified (for 40 – 41 degrees Celsius) we will reach the record of the last 150 years, “said Professor Michalopoulos.
So, where’s a great beach to go this time of year, an especially with covid restrictions?
Zakynthos Informer went to Dafni beach, with George Demeslis from Zante Vipboats.
As you can see in the video below, the beach is a long, wide and sandy beach, far away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. A perfect place to relax after the 2 months of lockdown.
So, don’t forget to take your suntan lotion and an umbrella with a few snacks to make that perfect day at the beach.
