Improvements for the Marina of Zakynthos.

Greece has at its disposal a tourist gold mine but has not yet been exploited by any government up until now.  That is our marinas!  As business stories have pointed out, maritime tourism – and in particular yachting – contributes 1.1% of GDP to Greece at 800 million euros, and reaches 1.9 billion if calculated directly and indirectly. The result is what residents, owners, passengers and crew of a boat consume on land. At the same time, it offers 25,150 jobs.

As President of the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund, Aris Xenofos has pointed out, “Private investment in Greek marinas is crucial to strengthening the country’s tourism industry. For every 100 berths there are 4.4 direct jobs created and another 100 indirect in and around the marina “, to add:” The Fund remains committed to its development objective and to enhancing our country’s tourism product by creatively utilizing the marina. All the marinas in our portfolio, so that they will now be a new competitive option to the proposals offered by neighbouring countries.

The Hellenic Republic Asset Development fund known as TAIPED also has plans for Zakynthos. Reports state that within the year, HRADF is expected to launch concessions for the marinas of Zakynthos, Argostoli and Rhodes. By summer, all competitions will be announced.

The Marina of Zakynthos has been advertised on their portfolio as saying “ adjusted to the main harbour of Zakynthos Island, in the Ionian Sea. With a capacity of 150 berths and an upland area of 37.000 m2, the marina occupies 65.000 m2 of sea/coastal area.

Uses in the designated area of the Marina may indicatively include the development of hotels, restaurants and taverns, other shops, entertainment centres, boat stores, buildings for the repair and maintenance of boats, and other similar stores”.
