John Tossell, missing 6 weeks today.

On Monday the 17th June, 2019 John Tossell told his partner Gillian Griffiths that he would take a walk to Mt Skopo, with 10 euros in his pocket he walked out of their hotel room, and headed to what Gillian thought would be just another routine walk.  In all her wildest dreams, she had know idea what was waiting around the corner, nor the ordeal she and family members would be put through. The idyllic Island of Zakynthos, often called paradise, suddenly became a place where their holiday destination has become memories of torment and anguish for her and her family, even more so that John has been missing for six weeks Today.

What makes it even more tragic is that there has been absolutely no sign of him anywhere, no one seems to know anything and the plea for possible witnesses once again, to come forward has been asked. In a heartbreaking message Gillian makes her plea;

“I am John Tossell’s partner, on Monday 28th July, John has been missing 6 weeks! It’s 6 weeks of heartache, I am begging anyone who knows anything or anyone who has been involved in the disappearance of John, to please come forward, urgently! I fully believe that something suspicious has taken place and if someone was involved in a hit and run involving John I’m sure it was an innocent accident, not deliberate. Please ease your conscience and speak up, I’m convinced he’s been taken or removed from Zante and all I ask is to let me know where he is so I can bring him home, my life has changed in an instance and I would hate it to happen to anyone else ! I believed Zante was a nice safe place as everyone we met when we arrived was lovely, but it’s hard to believe that now, as an Island 25/12 miles is too small for someone to disappear without trace. Thank you for letting me speak, Gillian Griffiths.”

All humanly efforts have been made to try and find John, first the search on the mountain, all the possible authorities were involved, from the fire department to volunteer rescue teams, even a police helicopter was called in, drones were used to search areas that were difficult to get to and even tracker dogs were used. Then the search became an international effort when the Welsh Mountain Rescue team joined forces, unfortunately, they left without finding him. Silver alert has also been notified and has asked for information and the well known detective-journalist Aggeliki Nikolouli has been notified of his disappearance.

Mt Skopos is not a huge mountain, but it does have areas where it is almost impossible to search. The last known whereabouts of John was at Windmill Bay, Argassi, a CCTV camera captured him whilst he was swimming in the area, it seems he left Windmill Bay heading towards Mt. Skopo; did he make it there or not? No one seems to know. At the moment the family believes that he was hit by a car whilst walking along the narrow road towards Mt. Skopo, even along the road there are possible scenarios as to what may have happened to John Tossell;  it is here that the family are pleading for any information, even the slightest.

Katy, his daughter in a message to me, pleading to get a message out for anyone to come forth, showed me a picture of her dad with one of his grandchildren. Its absolutely heartbreaking not knowing what has happened to one of your loved ones, nor being able to help those you love, if they are in danger; just having to sit and wait, praying to god that this nightmare will end.

Did you have a conversation with him? Did you see him walk down the road? Did you see him standing anywhere, travelling on a bus, ferry or even get into a taxi? Anything! Surely there must be something, something that someone may have seen or even heard. The plea to come forward is imperative,  tell the authorities or even send a message anonymously to those organizations we have mentioned, something to help find John.

South Wales Police are also assisting in collecting information, however, the investigation is still led by the Greek Police. So, anyone with any information needs to call them (Zakynthos, +30 26950  24470 ), (Greece 100)  or  (South Wales Police on +44 16568 15805).
