The anguish of John Tossell’s partner Gillian has taken its toll. Not only on her but the family as a whole. Months now have gone by and there is still no sign of John, not a trace.
The one thing the family can not come to terms with at the moment is how could he be missing and there not be any signs of him disappearing? Surely someone must know something!
Zakynthos Informer has been in touch with the family on a constant basis, I personally have been asked if there is any information that would help. Anything that could find him.
We remind you of another two missing person cases in Greece, brought to light last month. One with the American lady in Crete and another with a British lady in Ikaria. Both cases with similar story lines. They both went for a walk and did not return to the place they were staying. There is no difference in the case of John Tossell. He too, went for a walk. The only complete indifference is that in the two women’s cases they were found virtually immediately. In John’s case it has been months and he still hasn’t been found.
“John 73, is a keen walker and an avid fan of history. Gillian said: “Every holiday we went on, John went walking because he was very fit, active and he loved history.
“On the morning of June 17, he said he would go for a walk, maybe only 30 minutes or maybe longer, but don’t worry.
“He said to take my bathers and go to the pool and that he would see me later, he took 10 euros and a bottle of water and left around 9.30 in the morning.”
John however, did not return.
John’s last confirmed sight was at a canteen near the monastery of Skopiotissa on Mount Skopos.
Apparently, he spoke to a lady aged between 45 and 55 with blond hair and her partner. Until this day these people have not come forward. They may not even know that the person they spoke to is missing.
Pleas have continued from the family for anyone who may have seen him or spoken him to come forward, even if it is something that seems so insignificant. To the family it means the world, they are desperate and do not know where to turn for help. At the moment keeping their story going on the media and in social media may help to trigger someone’s mind.
John’s case is now in the hands of our local prosecutor. Although he is still classed as missing, the family believe foul play may have dealt a hand. Until, the prosecutor has read all the information gathered and investigation reports, the decision to change the case from missing person to anything else cannot be done. This takes time, meanwhile the search through every possible channels is being done to find and close the mysterious case of John Tossell.
