Katastari F.C. – paid dearly for its mistakes

The match between Panarkadikos and Katastari, for the postponed 20th game of the championship of the 3rd national division, took place under  very good weather conditions. Dimitris Nolis arrayed his team with a 4-3-3 system with Drakopoulos under the beam, left in defence Kourella, right Panagopoulos, the centre defensive twins, Karvounis and Brillaki, clean cutter Mousai, creative midfielders Petta and Kardaris, Tiliopoulo to the right, Kapsaskis to the left and Mezinis.

The match began with Panarkadikos taking the initiative, leaving Katastari in defence. The hosts, on their first substantial visit to the area of Drakopoulos missed a goal, when from a side throw, in the small area Georgopoulos received the ball there, defence was slow to mark and the Panarkadian striker up very close sent the ball into the net, making it 1-0 for his team.

From 10′ onwards, the islanders took action on the field and threatened for the first time with Kardaris, who shoots, with the ball going barely out.

At 23′ Katastari lost an unrepeatable opportunity to tie, when Kardaris executed a corner Kapsaski jumped in the course of the ball and almost touching sent it over the beam of Kalogeropoulos. The match gained pace, the guests tried, even though they had the ball, they were unable to reach the Panarkadikos area.

At 35′ Karvalio cleverly shoots the ball, however it wasn’t doing him a favour, as it passed by a little out. With this 1-0 the teams went to the locker room.

Second half, the guests got better completely regained control of the midline and they managed to tie, featuring Petta and Kapsaskis. The first, with a nice move found the second, Kapsaski entered the area, where he was overthrown by Stremba. The referee pointed to the penalty which Petta ‘turned into’ a goal bringing the match to 1-1.

This goal raised the psychology of the Katastari players, who pushed to change the data and change the match. But at 65′ a mistake by Drakopoulos was what changed everything on behalf of Panarkadikos.

Karvalio made a weak shot, the goalkeeper of Katastari made an erratic repulse, the ball was laid to Niko Lyberopoulos who sent it to the net, making 2-1.  Afterwards, Katastari tried again, but several players made mistakes, causing the team to become aggressively offensive.

And as if that was not enough, at 73′ Strembas with a spectacular execution of a foul from 30 metres, sent the ball into the net of a helpless-to-react Drakopoulos, forming the final 3-1 for the Arkadian team. The last time that Ksatastari threatened was at 81′ when Maroudas took a parallel centre Mezini shot the ball to go slightly wide.
