As Kiriakos Mitsotakis was sworn in as Greece’s new prime minister, after his party New Democratic (ND), won with landslide results. His party won the national elections gaining 39.85 percent compared to the now opposition party Syriza, which was lead by previous prime minister Alexis Tsipras at 31.53 percent, with only 86 seats compared to the 150 they once had.
All in all there are a total of 300 hundred seats in the Hellenic Parliament in which New Democratic party (ΝΔ) gained 158 seats, Syriza 31.5 percent with 86 seats, KINAL, at 8.10 percent with 22 seats, the Greek Communist Party KKE, at 5.3 percent (15 seats); newcomer Greek Solution, a far-right party, at 3.7 percent with 10 seats and MeRa 25, under the leadership of Giannis Varoufakis who recently formed the party, at 3.44 percent with nine seats.
In Zakynthos, ΝΔ won with a total percentage of 41.93% allowing a change in seats as far as members of parliament are concerned for Zakynthos compared to Syriza 31.5%, KKE with 9.04% KINIMA ALLAGIS 5.38% and MeRA25 with 3.22%. The new member of parliament representing Zakynthos is now Dionysios Aktypis. The new MP of Zakynthos has promised to do his best to support Zakynthians and work hard for the good of the Island.
