Today the UK Prime Minister gave another press conference to update UK Citizens on a number of issues relating to the ongoing pandemic.

He [Prime Minister] confirmed that from, next week on 12th April, the UK will move to step two of the formally agreed road map.

There will be a five week gap until step three of lockdown, which will take place on 17th May. Foreign Travel will be discussed then.

At present the experts don’t know how strong the vaccine cover will be for people, if/when Covid cases rise again which experts bier could be possible.

Free tests will now be rolled out across UK to all citizens.

It was noted that as part of the agreed roadmap, early thinking on Covid status certification (Covid Vaccine Certificates) and international travel will be posted on the relevant pages on the UK Gov website.

The Prime Minister noted that there will be NO deviation from the current four step lockdown plan as it stands

A number of journalists as questions, one of journalists form the BBC asked “Will there be Foreign travel in May?”

The Prime minister responded saying that Covid status certification will likely be used for international travel, but it’s something that’s still being discussed, both in UK and with other countries.

Test events will take place in the next few weeks to see how Covid status certification will work.

In regards to International travel, the Prime Minister has said he is hopeful that the UK can get things moving in line with the roadmap, but he doesn’t want to get peoples hopes up.

He also doesn’t want to underestimate the difficulties other countries are having with case numbers currently.

The Prime Minister also noted that the UK don’t want to risk importing the virus again. The Global Travel task Force will report to Prime Minister later this week with an answer as to how things will possibly work.

The Prime Minister also noted that the Government will do their best to give Aviation as much notice as they possibly can, when they feel it’s appropriate for flights to recommence as he noted it’s important for the UK economy for Aviation to be up and running again But it requires people to be safe and confident and when we get to steps 3/4 in the roadmap there will be changes, however it may take time.

The prime Minister finished the conference by saying that things will remind constantly under review up until the end of the lockdown at step 4 on June 21st.

At present there is still no confirmation on when international will travel will continue, they still advise people not to book holidays abroad until there is a clearer picture of what will happen.

We will of course update everyone as soon as anything is confirmed.
