Our Local Member of Parliament, Mr Dionysios Aktypis, in a press release by his office, called for more Traffic Police to patrol our streets.
Due to the increase in traffic accidents and what seems ongoing complaints by residents to our MP, he took the initiative to talk with the Traffic Chief, Mr. Nektario Tsolo.
Mr Tsolo on his behalf mentioned they were understaffed, especially now during the summer season, having to deal with multi tasks. However, his team will do their utmost best in providing more patrols and checks especially during the night.

” Following on from the recent tragic car accidents and responding to letters from citizens, but mainly due to common sense, Zakynthos Member of Parliament, Nea Dimokratia, Mr D. Aktypis, took the initiative to prevent such unpleasant events.
In particular, in contact with the Zakynthos Traffic Commander, he requested that the service, within its capabilities, be strengthened by its presence on the streets at night, especially during summer.
The Island’s Traffic Commander assured that, despite admitting great difficulties the service faces, due to understaffing and wide-ranging tasks, it will significantly increase its presence and frequency of checks, seeking to contribute significantly on their part to avoid accidents”
