If you were out and about in town today you would have noticed the city council putting up our Christmas lights.
Every year the roads around town are decorated with Christmas lights. It seems today was the start of preparations.
Celebrations no doubt will start over the next couple of weeks. Not only in town but also around the villages. “Yiortes” as we say in Greek officially start on Saint Nicholas day which falls each year on the 6th of December.
So, in Zakynthos the Christmas spirit will be soon in our town and hopefully it will spread across the whole Island.
The Volunteer Group of Zakynthos has also started a campaign aimed at bussiness owners and residents. At least for those who are in town to decorate the streets with lights. Hopefully, this will also help in an effort to make at least the shopping area in Zakynthos town more Chrismassy.
