Preparing for the 8th December, The Volunteer Group of Zakynthos begins decorations.

CHRISTMAS DECORATING AT THE REGIONAL OFFICE BUILDING.

The actions of the Volunteer Group of Zakynthos are persistent and visionary.

The flower beds of the Zakynthos Regional Unit were cleared for the third consecutive year by the Volunteer Group of Zakynthos, whose members are proceeding to add Christmas decorations with the permission of the Vice-Chancellor, Mr. Stassinopoulos.

The Volunteer Group of Zakynthos seeks to change the image of everyday life in the town through its activities. The disadvantage is that not enough people were involved in the voluntary clean up, but there is something positive as far as volunteering goes: “All doors are open to offers when the time is right,” something Mr. Dionysis Nikolopoulos said on his part.

Decorations have been done by an number of Volunteers including those of school ages. “It’s amazing how kids love to join in on our campaigns, and of course it’s a great way to educate them as they can see the results first hand” said Louise another Volunteer.  “This year Valia out did herslef with the decorations, you should see the train she has made!” Louise continued.

“Last year I made the reindeers from wood with the help of some volunteers, this year I have done the soldiers and the train, which we still need to complete. We won’t finish today as we still have a lot of work to do.” Valia Melikoki added.

The tree in front of the Regional Offices will be lit up next Sunday if all goes well, with the “presentation” expected to be by the Ionian Regional Governor, Mrs. Kratsa.

The Volunteer Group of Zakynthos have collected different Christmas ornaments from businessmen and will also decorate the area of St. Luke’s Square on Wednesday. This is the first time the volunteers have taken action here.

It should be noted that after contacting the Zakynthian Deputy Mayor, Dimitris Koutsogiannis, a truck was sent today to remove the weeds, with the driver, Fontas Karavia, also assisting in the voluntary clean up …

All there is left now is to have the decorations ready by Sunday the 8th of December and Zakynthians to enjoy a warm hearted Christmas.
