The women’s choir “Rodambelos” from the village Ambelokipi, known by its old name “Roido” celebrated today with the tradition of cutting the New Year’s cake. Present were all choir members, family, friends, politicians and other cultural organisations to join in the celebrations .
A tradition that has been kept within the women’s choir for the 4th executive year, thus hoping to help bring in good fortune for the year ahead. Each choir member showed how a community can come together by cooking something and bringing it along to the celebrations, there was enough food to feed an army!
The most impressive was the cake designed by choir member Anta Xenou, with her pomegranate (Roido) and her message of ” Roido we have become”.
The New Year’s cake has a lucky coin and is blessed by the priest, then is cut up into pieces and handed out. Obviously the lucky coin is wanted by all and this year it landed in the hands of “Rodambelo’s maestro Andriana Lykouresi.
