As in most places, soccer is represented and is the main athletic sport on the island in winter
For the 2018-2019 season, Zakynthos is represented in the Γ / C / 3rd national division. (In the past in this division was the popular APS Zakynthos 1961).
At a local level, the amateur division is divided into A and B groups, with a total of 22 teams.
‘A’ group consists of the teams of Tsilvi, APS Zakynthos 1961, Panartemisiakos, Ethniki Skoulikado, Levande, Asteras Macherado, Aiolos Sarakinado, Apollona, Doksa Lithakia, Agios Leontas/Koiliomenas.
‘B’ group consists of the teams of Doksa Pigadakia, Asteras Planos, Argasi, Keri/Nafthion, Akykanas, Elatiakos, Floga Kypselis, Ahilleas Zakynthos, APS Zakynthos, Esperos, Vasilikos, Gerakari.
The youth, of the island, also have teams – seperated into k16 and k14.
Not to be outdone, women are represented in the Doksa Pigadakia team, in the past Panarkadikos also had a team.
