This morning the Supreme Court has unanimously ruled that the decision to suspend parliament until 14 October by the UK Prime Minister was unlawful
Eleven Supreme Court justices looked at the legality by the Prime Minister to prorogue parliament, for an extended period. The Prime Minister also gave advice to the Queen whilst making the decision.
Today the Supreme Count agreed that the advice given by the Prime Minister was unlawful. Lady Hale noted:

Today the Supreme Count agreed that the advice given by the Prime Minister was unlawful. Lady Hale noted: “The court is bound to conclude therefore that the decision to advise Her Majesty to prorogue was unlawful because it had the effect of frustrating or preventing the ability of parliament to carry out its constitutional functions.”
The House of Commons Speaker is now looking to reopen Parliament tomorrow, so that MPs can continue their normal Parliamentary business.
