Taxi: From Friday, May 8, the transfer of two passengers is allowed

The use of a non-medical protective facial masks by passengers and the driver is mandatory.

As of today, May 8, 2020, the transport of two passengers, in addition to the driver, within public passenger cars ( taxis) and private passenger cars (private cars) with a driver up to five seats, with a KYA signed by the Undersecretary, is permitted, stated theMinister of Infrastructure and Transport,  Giannis Kefalogiannis.

In the relevant ΚΥΑ (ΦΕΚ 1757 (Government Gazette 1757). “Distance measurement measures during the movement of public and private school students and modification of protection measures in public and private passenger vehicles”. It is also stipulated that the maximum number of two passengers in addition to the driver, applies to Double-cabs, mixed-use and Van-type vehicles, ie as applicable for passenger cars for private use (E.I.X.) up to seven (7) seats.

In all of the above cases, it is exceptionally permissible to exceed the passenger limit, provided that only parents with their minor children are in the vehicle, in addition to the driver.

In addition, in these vehicles it is mandatory to use a non-medical mask to protect the passengers and the driver. For each violation an administrative fine (150 euros) is imposed, both on the driver of the vehicle and on the passengers.

Finally, with a circular signed by Mr. Kefalogiannis, it is clarified that during the travels with the official cars of the public services, as well as of the other public sector bodies (NPDD, state NPID and local authorities of the first and second degree), as well as for cars of the Diplomatic Corps, the Consular Corps, the Personnel of Embassies and Foreign Missions are applied as follows:

For passenger vehicles up to seven (7) seats, it is permitted to carry two (2) more passengers than the driver.

For cars of eight (8) or nine (9) seats, it is allowed to carry three (3) passengers, in addition to the driver.
