Zakynthos mayor and president of Zakynthos water board (DEYAZ). Mr. Nikitas Aretakis, announced that he has decided to remove the metres from citizens who do not pay for their water, despite the fact that they are financially able. Unfortunately, there is no other way saving DEYAZ from possible bankruptcy.
At the same time, the Mayor stated that what the MP’s side says is not valid, namely that the settlement with DEH (electricty company) has not yet been made because the Municipality has delayed paying money for the installments.
Once again he spoke of insufficient staff at DEYAZ, pointing out that he has no confidence in anyone and especially those working in the technical department.
During the interview, Mr. Aretakis was particularly concerned about cases of public money disruption, disorganization, lack of planning and proper planning.
Not all previous administrations in DEYAZ and FODSA have escaped his arrows, noting that in his days economic order has entered the municipality and the tight economic policy that follows is beginning to bear fruit
