There has been an announcement in the in the press by TUI today stating that they will begin tourist flights, to eight locations in Greece and Spain, from 11 July 2020. The destinations in Greece are Corfu, Crete, Kos, Rhodes, the Spanish destinations are Canary Islands (Tenerife and Lanzarote) Ibiza and Mallorca. Unfortunately Zakynthos is not on this first list.
The announcement also noted that those who travel on these flights will NOT be subjected to a two week quarantine upon return to the UK.
The commercial director of TUI, Richard Sofer said “We have absolute confidence the British government will have lifted the 14-day quarantine rule for people entering the UK by then.”
TUI also said “The foreign Office would need to stop advising against all non-essential overseas travel, and “air bridges” would need to be created so people can travel between certain countries and the UK without having to self-isolate at either end.”
The two week quarantine for arrivals into the UK is still mandatory for all, and still in place. Discussions about a possible easing of the quarantine won’t take place until 28th June, when the UK government will then announce whether the quarantine will continue or remain in place for a further specified period of time. TUI however are confident, after attending meetings with the government that they can restart these flights, in July without customers being affected by issues with quarantine on return to the UK.
We wait for further information about where flights to Zakynthos will recommence from the UK. When we get any news we will post it.
