The UK government have just announced that there will be a 14 day quarantine at UK borders for any international/returning visitors to the UK. This starts on the 08 June. Travellers will have to provide contact and travel information and details of where they are staying in the UK to ensure they self isolate at their home or designated address for a full 14 days. The information will be requested from travellers by electronic method.
The only people exempt from this new 14 day quarantine are medical professionals, road hauliers, foreign officials and NI residents.
Authorities will carry out spot checks to ensure people comply with this 14 day quarantine. Border force staff will enforce the measures. Penalty for not complying with the measure will be a spot fine of £1000.
These measures will be reviewed by the UK government every three weeks with further updates where necessary. A short list of exempt countries will be announced shortly.
New ways will be looked at in order to work with travel companies to help the travel industry going forward. Further announcements will be advised as soon as the government have them.
