Just what is happening in Zakynthos when it comes to breaking and entering!!! Perhaps we have all heard a story or two.
Another report in Ambelokipi has shocked the local community as a young lady ends up in Hospital.
This particular event has hit me on a personal level, as the young lady is not only a friend of mine but a person in the community who is loved for her compassion and willingness to help others in need. The event has hit me hard as she only lives just down the road, I heard the dogs bark and cause a fuss. However, not in my wildest dreams did I think that a young girl was being attacked in her own home!!!
Arriving home.
It all started late last night when the young lady had told her parents she would grab a few clothes from her house and return within 15minutes or so.
She arrived at her front door and noticed that her front door hadn’t been double locked, which she usually does.
Putting that aside she turned the key and opened the door. To her surprise a man grabbed her pulling her into her house. She didn’t have time to react at all. Wanting to cause bodily harm to the young lady he grabbed her head and smashed it against the door two or three times. Needless to say this caused her to surrender. A second person who was hiding somewhere in the house came out. Not able to defend herself, they threw her down on the floor and started beating her until she passed out!
A stroke of good luck.
Call it a stroke of luck perhaps that she was supposed to go to her parents’ house that night. As time went by they became concerned. Not being able to reach her on her mobile phone they decided to go and check for themselves at her home.
The shock of seeing your child lying on the floor helpless is enough to deal with but to see your child beat up for the sake of a few euros is another.
The ambulance was called immediately and Police arrived at the scene. The culprits? For now they have vanished into thin air it seems!!!
Be aware!
Police are investigating the breaking and entering, a petty crime according to the law. The damage these animals caused not only inflicting wounds to their victim’s body but physiologically her wounds may never heal. It just got me thinking how long will it be before someone takes the law into their own hands? How long will it be before we hear of murder due to someone breaking into a house? How long? With more and more people feeling insecure within their own homes and unable to defend themselves lawfully, it is just a matter of time!
Unfortunately, it seems that time of year where resorts are coming to a close; the breaking and entering game has once again raised its ugly head. CITIZENS BE AWARE!!
This young lady is now lying in a hospital bed with a neck brace, mild concussion and in pain!
