The old Venetian harbor of Chania came under water with huge waves and rain to hammer the area for hours without mercy.
The heavy rainfalls and powerful winds that stroke the Chania Prefecture on Thursday and Friday have caused large damages in the infrastructure, flooded homes and businesses.
Citing local authorities, media on Crete report that according to first estimations the damages are worth more than 50 million euros.
Crete is still under the influence of the barometric low with heavy rainfalls and thunderstorms. Meteorologists forecast that the bad weather phenomena will last until Sunday afternoon.
The barometric low moves to the East of the island.
