SUNDAY, 14th APRIL

Walk #1

The Cultural Association of Agios Kyrikos “Anthony Martelaos”, invites us to a walk in the beautiful, densely populated village of Keri. Meeting at 09.30 in the central square of Agios Kyrikas.

The route is easy, about 4 km. The village of Keri is situated on a green, pine-covered hill. The main characteristic of the mountainous village is the old stone houses with narrow alleys. The old houses survived the earthquake of 1953 and are now exhibits of local rich architecture. One kilometre away from the village is the lighthouse of Keri, on the edge of a cliff and 300 metres above the sea we will admire the endless blue of the Ionian Sea and the steep cliffs. We will visit the church of Panagia Keriotissa, built in the 18th century. It is said that the Virgin Mary once hid in a dense Zakynthian fog to save herself from pirates’ raids. The natural landscape of Keri is enchanting because it is full of olive groves, vineyards and lush forests of pine and holly.
We will be honoured to taste the wine and food of thé Keri cultural club after the end of the walk.

Walk #2

The team “Me kroma omorfainoume ti zoi / With colour we make life nicer” invites us to a leisurely walk in Kastellia of Ano Gerakari in one of the most picturesque seaside resorts of Zakynthos.
Meeting at 11.00, on the road leading to Ammoudi beach.

The walk is circular with a distance of about 5 kilometres, which contains many spring images of Zakynthian nature with olives, herbs, rich and unspoiled vegetation, orange groves that pop up between lush vegetation, seaside coves with golden beaches.
